Cultural competitions

Since 1985, the year of its first edition, the Biennale has taken place every two years in a different city in the Mediterranean area and is aimed at young artists and creatives. BJCEM is an international network with over 60 members and partners in Europe, the Middle East and Africa, whose support makes this event possible as it guarantees the participation of artists from their territories.

The Municipality of Milan is a member of Bjcem since 2000. The 2015 edition of the Biennale took place in Milan at the Fabbrica del Vapore from 21 to 25 October and saw the participation of 300 artists.

The aim of this international network is to create opportunities for young artists, promoting mobility, exchange, mutual understanding, intercultural dialogue, collaboration and training. The association supports their creativity and puts them in contact with local and international realities in order to help them grow personally and professionally.

Artist residencies

- The GAi for national and international artistic mobility.
The 'artist-in-residence (AIR)' mobility opportunities offer the possibility to compare one's creative process with that of peers from other countries and cultures, to produce and to extend one's professional network.
Residency programs, being integrated into local cultural and social systems, also guarantee the circulation of ideas and works among a vast and heterogeneous range of audiences, while at the same time facilitating contact with the art market.

- On the Move
On the Move (OTM) operates as an information channel on mobility opportunities for artists and cultural professionals.
The website collects useful information on travel grants and mobility opportunities from different sources, giving priority to initiatives and tenders that at least partially cover travel expenses, as well as to small and medium-sized enterprises and mobility projects.
