The second edition of the NO BORDER season, curated by Compagnia Carnevale at Spazio Teatro 89, ends on 18 April 2024 at 20.30pm with RADIO MACBETH, new production of Teatro valet stand. On stage Roberto Marinelli with dramaturgy and direction by Michele Segreto.
Between 1941 and 1943 George Orwell had not yet written any of his most famous novels. As a journalist and critic, he works for the BBC creating propaganda radio programmes.
The programs are cultural in nature and addressed to the English colonies of India, where Orwell was born, to underline the superiority of Anglo-Saxon civilization and literature compared to the rest of the world. While he speaks on the radio, Indian soldiers, supplied en masse to the English army, die by the thousands on the battlefields.
On 17 October 1943 Orwell analyzes the plot and structure of William Shakespeare's Macbeth, which he considers, in no uncertain terms, to be the perfect work. In the Shakespearean villain, who will be one of the greatest narrators of tyranny and despotism, he searches for the weaknesses of the common man together with greatness, he is fascinated by him, recognizing "a kind of primitive medieval version of the modern fascist dictator".
A few weeks later, without warning, Orwell resigns from the BBC.

The NO CONFINE season is made up of ten events from October to April by artists and companies from all over Italy, who bring new dramaturgy to the stage, never presented in their definitive form in Milan. The season is sponsored by the Municipality of Milan Municipio 7. All shows start at 20.30 pm
