> The historic Salento company Astragali Teatro leads us through a particular rewriting of the myth of Medea: Medea is a woman, foreign and wild, another creature who resists and loves. She loves beyond all values, beyond all morals. She resists and escapes power, a teenage queen of whom you can ask for anything, the custodian of profound and ancient knowledge. The root of her name, med, recalls the word medicine. The pharmakon that cures and poisons. That she can save and kill. Root of the venenum, of something that transforms and changes. Medea, driven out and banished by power, the stigma of the wild woman, claims the only horizon that undermines and undermines power: desire. Medea loves, Medea loves love, Medea lives in the desire that she takes and gives shape to life.
