MILAN IS MEMORY.

Lo spettacolo “Fontana Square. A love story" will be on stage at Creative Languages Theatre Monday 12 December 2022, within the initiative "Milan is memory" of the The municipality of Milan.
With the Piazza Fontana project: «the mother of all massacres», an interdisciplinary commemorative journey that includes video interviews on the theme and the staging of the show “Piazza Fontana. A love story".

The project begins with the collection of video interviews that split into two fronts: the first is that of direct witnesses, over 65s who experienced first-hand the climate of tension that existed in those days; the second is that of young people aged 14 to 18, who know the events that happened only through school books.
The interviews will form a short documentary which will be screened at Teatro Linguaggicreativi before the staging of the show “Piazza Fontana. A love story". This final moment of the project will be held on Monday 12 December 2022 at 16pm, the time of the bomb explosion, it will involve all the protagonists of the interviews and will be open and free for all citizens.

The Piazza Fontana show. A love story tells the love story between two protagonists which takes its inspiration from both Herbert Pagani's song “Hotel by the Hour” and from Shakespeare's timeless tragedy “Romeo and Juliet”.
The love story accompanies us from the meeting between a man and a woman, a modern and Milanese Romeo and Juliet, to the discovery of their impossible love because both are married and have a family, in an era in which in Italy Marrying not for love was still widespread and divorce was illegal. In fact, the crime of adultery still existed (the adulterous wife was sentenced to imprisonment). We see the two lovers meet, fall in love, chase each other through the places of Milan, meet in secret every day in Piazza Fontana, then decide to run away and fulfill their dream on December 12th, the day of the explosion of the terrorist bomb.
The history of Milan in the five days preceding the explosion of the bomb is intertwined with this first dramaturgical strand: the social, cultural and political climate of those years. These textual contributions were written for us by important exponents of Milanese culture such as Eugenio Finardi, a well-known Milanese singer-songwriter, Piero Colaprico, a writer, journalist, Letizia Russo, a playwright and others. We asked them to write short stories specifically for us regarding their memory of Milan in 1969, and in particular of 12 December and the days that followed, to tell the impact that such an important event for Milan left on the emotional climate and social, on the way its inhabitants live in our beautiful city after such a painful event.
