Milan remembers Giovanni Ardizzone

On 27 October 1962, Giovanni Ardizzone, then a 21-year-old student, during a pacifist and protest demonstration organized by the CGIL in Piazza Duomo in Milan against the Cuban Missile Crisis, lost his life crushed by an armored vehicle of the police forces who intervened with the intent to disperse the procession.

The Municipality of Milan, already with the Pisapia council, in October 2012, placed a plaque in via Mengoni
"Giovanni Ardizzone fell on October 27, 1962 in defense of peace and the Cuban people".

On Thursday 27 October 2022, on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of his death, the commemoration will be held with the laying of the wreath, at 18.00 pm, in via Mengoni on the plaque in memory of the student, in the presence of representatives of the municipal administration.

Two events are organized in memory of the student:
- Open from 1st to 31st October: The exhibition "GIOVANNI ARDIZZONE. Victim of an ideal of peace" at the Chamber of Labour;
- October 25th: The "60th ANNIVERSARY" meeting to be held at the House of Culture.
