On 3 September 1982, a few months after being appointed Prefect of Palermo, the Carabinieri General Carlo Alberto from the Church he fell victim to the mafia massacre in via Carini, where his wife also lost their lives Emanuela Setti Carraro and the escort agent Dominic Russo.
Forty years after the event, in the wake of similar initiatives launched throughout the national territory, the City of Milan el 'Arms of the Carabinieri gave rise to celebrations, with a program of initiatives, to honor the memory of the fallen.
- On Saturday 3 September, the commemoration was held at 11.30 am with the laying of six wreaths near the Carabiniere Monument in Piazza Diaz. Citizens, families of the victims and the highest civil and military authorities attended the ceremony. Present, representing the municipal administration, the Mayor Giuseppe Sala.
- At 18.30 pm, in the presence of the Councilor for Culture Tommaso Sacchi, the walk in Viale Bianca Maria, in the stretch between Corso Monforte and Via Zanardelli, was named after Emanuela Setti Carraro.
- On Monday 5 September, at 10.00, the plaque dedicated to Emanuela Setti Carraro and Domenico Russo was unveiled in Piazza Diaz; in the presence of citizens, families of the victims and the highest civil and military authorities. The deputy mayor was present, representing the municipal administration Anna Scavuzzo.
