On January 27, theUniversity of Milan remembers all the victims of the Shoah and Nazi-fascist persecution with a double appointment in the Aula Magna.

We start in the morning, at 9.30 am, with the conference “Discrimination of 'different' people and the Shoah”, opened by greetings from the rector Elio Franzini, of Gadi Luzzatto Voghera, director of the Contemporary Jewish Documentation Center, and of Marco Vigevani, president of the Events Committee of the Shoah Memorial in Milan, and moderated by Marilisa D'Amico, vice-rector of Legality, Equal Rights and Transparency. The conference closes on monologue entitled “Past not past”, by and with the actress Carolina de' Castiglioni.

At 19 pm, appointment with the meeting “Persecuted music” with Silvia Del Zoppo e Cesare Fertonani, teachers of the history of modern and contemporary music at the University, who will reflect on the unfortunate fate suffered by musicians of Jewish origin due to Nazi-fascist persecution and on the so-called concentration camp music, that artistic production of interned musicians which, thanks to recent research and studies, is returning to the light.

The day ends at 20.30pm with the concert by “mdi ensemble”, promoted byUniMi Orchestra as part of the 2022-2023 season and organized in collaboration with theMusicaAdesso Association. The quartet, for the occasion composed of Paul Casiraghi on the clarinet, Corinna Canzian to the violin, George Casati on the cello e Luke Ieracitanus on the piano, he will perform the Sonata for violin and piano by Aldo Finzi and Quatuor pour la fin du temps by Olivier Messiaen.
