Republic Day - plaque in memory of Luca Attanasio

As part of the city's celebrations of the 76th anniversary of Republic Day, Milan remembers the figure of Luke Attanasio, young Italian ambassador killed on 22 February 2021 in Congo during a humanitarian mission, together with the driver of the convoy in which he was travelling, Mustapha Malinbo, and to the policeman of the escort, Vittorio Iavovacci.


On June 1st at 12 pm, the Municipality of Milan will unveil a plaque dedicated to him, at the entrance to Ravizza Park in the neighborhood where, as a student at Bocconi University, he spent his formative years.

The inauguration of the plaque will be attended by City of Milan, a representative of the European Parliament, Luca Attanasio's family and wife, Zakia Seddiki, President of the Mama Sofia Foundation, created to promote the values ​​of peace, justice and solidarity between peoples.

Many of the scheduled events will take place in the city center, starting from 10 am in Piazza Duomo, with the city authorities participating in the flag raising ceremony.
 

Throughout the day (from 10am to 20pm) theextraordinary opening of Palazzo Marino:

  • with the possibility of taking part in guided tours, with 4 appointments - at 10.30 am, 11 am, 12 pm and 12.30 pm - upon reservation at visitepalazzomarino@comune.milano.it;
  • at 11 am, in the Courtyard of Honor Palazzo Marino, you will be able to attend the reading of the Italian Constitution by volunteers of the Milan Pact for Reading;
  • at 16.30 pm, in the Courtyard of Honor of the Palace, the band's concert will be held Local police, directed by the master Giorgio Poli, with the performance of original pieces and transcriptions of classical and contemporary music;
  • at 18pm we will continue with the Civic wind orchestra, directed by the master Luca Valenti who will perform pieces by composers Rossini, Ponchielli and Verdi.
