MILAN IS MEMORY. The 2023 tender has been published. Milan's commitment to transmitting the city's collective memory continues.

The Administration renews its commitment to preserve, transmit and spread the memory of events, people and values ​​founding the city's identity with a new Public Notice for the provision of contributions for concrete support, also in economic terms, to the various subjects of Milan who develop projects on memory and the diffusion of values ​​adhering to the guidelines of Milan is Memory for the year 2023. A total of 2019 euros have been invested since 280.000.

The Milano è Memoria project continues its precious mission of telling, testifying and spreading the identity of Milan, making known its founding values, the facts and the people protagonists of its history and these values, community heritage and commitment towards young generations. From Thursday 30 May the call for contributions is public, one of the tools put in place for this purpose by the municipal council.

The call consists of contributions for a total of 60.000 euros to be allocated to initiatives aimed at the transmission and diffusion of the city's memory and the values ​​linked to it. Projects can be financed for a maximum of 80% of their value up to a maximum of 6000 euros each. Bodies, associations and groups of citizens can participate for non-profit initiatives, to be implemented by January 2024. This year a reward score will be given to the proposals relating to the theme "From the Villages to the City, from the City to the Neighborhoods" finalized to the valorisation of the centenary of the union of 11 small municipalities in the Milan area which took place in December 1923.

Since its launch, the Milano è Memoria project has encouraged the creation of initiatives by supporting almost a hundred entities (associations and spontaneous groups of citizens) thanks to calls for tenders issued with an annual deadline, from 2019 to today for an overall investment - including the resources allocated for this 'year - of 280.000 euros. A program that has already involved 86 associations supported with individual contributions between 2.500 and 5.400 euros. At the center is the commitment to tell and testify to the city's identity from anti-fascism to social solidarity, from neo-fascist massacres to the fight against the mafia, to peace and much more, revolving around four key dates: January 27th (Remembrance Day of Victims of the Shoah); April 25th (Anniversary of the Liberation from Nazi-fascism); May 9th (Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Terrorism and its related massacres); on 12 December (Piazza Fontana massacre).

The 2023 call for contributions was published on 30 May on the website of the Municipality of Milan.

The grant applications, drawn up on the appropriate forms (Annex 1 of the Public Notice), must be sent according to the methods specified in theNotice, no later than 12.00 on 30/06/2023.
