"RETURN"
of the JOURNEY OF MEMORY 2022
to the concentration camps of Bolzano, Trieste San Sabba and the Redipuglia Shrine

Since 2013, as part of the project “From Milan to Mauthausen, 9 Municipalities for Memory”, the experts of ANED, Association of former deportees to Nazi camps, And ANPI, National Association of Partisans of Italy, accompanied a delegation of fourth year students from a school for each of the nine Milanese municipalities on a "Journey of Memory" to Mauthausen (Nazi concentration camp where most of the Milanese deportees converged) who will have the honor of escorting the banner of the City at the international ceremony commemorating the liberation of that Camp and the end of the Second World War. The program provides for the chosen boys and girls, throughout the school year, a series of historical and documentary training interventions and the commitment to "give back" - on the occasion of January 27th of the following year, Remembrance Day - both in one's own school and in a public session, one's own experience. The 2020 and 2021 trips were suspended due to Covid, the program was resumed in 2022 with a trip in May to the concentration camps of Bolzano and Trieste San Sabba, concluding at the Redipuglia Shrine. ANED and ANPI are pleased to invite you to the city "Restitution" which will take place at the Municipality of Milan, Sala Alessi, on 1 March 2023 starting at 9.30. The day is part of the planned path which sees the conclusion of the 2022-2023 project and the beginning of the 2023-2024 program with the new groups of male and female students: in particular, this appointment has the symbolic meaning of "passing of the baton" from part of those who have already made the trip and an invitation to new young people to prepare for the trip with awareness and commitment, proud to represent the City, Gold Medal of the Resistance. The boys and girls will deliver to the representatives of their Municipality of reference the biography - as a gift, testimony of civic commitment and sign of continuity of the Memory - of a Deportee they adopted, for in-depth research and knowledge of the history of that Municipality .
