Tetyana is a family caregiver of Ukrainian origin who has been working with WeMi Tate Colf Caregivers for almost 8 years.

We asked her to tell us her story and her experience with WeMi.

When did you arrive in Italy?

I came from Ukraine to Naples in 2006 thanks to a friend who helped me find a house and a job. At the beginning it wasn't easy: I didn't speak Italian, I didn't have a regular contract and the salary was very low even though I worked day and night.

Then slowly, with commitment and also thanks to the knowledge of people, I learned the Italian language. I wanted to speak correctly, understand and make myself understood and this certainly facilitated my integration.

What aspect do you like most about your job?

The aspect I like most about this job is the possibility of helping people, which is part of me and my nature. In my country I was a nurse, which is why I wanted to continue, also in Italy, to deal with the care and well-being of people.

What is the most important aspect of being a family assistant?

To be a good carer, motivation and training are key aspects. Furthermore, it is also important to have respect for the employer and for those you look after. It's relational work, in which you enter people's lives, their homes.

What is the greatest difficulty of working as a carer?

Many say it is physical fatigue, but in reality the greatest difficulty concerns human relationships, relationships with people. It is not easy to connect with the person you care for and this often requires a lot of patience and preparation.

How did you come to WeMi Tate Maid carers?

After 8 years in Naples, a city that I always carry in my heart, in 2014 I arrived in Milan. I started from scratch, I looked for work everywhere, I also tried to have my Ukrainian qualification recognized.

During my job search I had the opportunity to get to know the city of Milan better and this was fundamental for integrating into a totally new environment.

By taking my CV to various agencies in the city, I also discovered the Caregiver Service of the Municipality of Milan. I signed up and immediately found a job with a family who I stayed with for almost 2 years.

What was your experience with WeMi Tate Colf Caregivers?

I have also had other experiences with job search agencies, but the attention I found in WeMi Tate Colf Caregivers is unique and for this reason I chose to rely exclusively on your professionalism.

Today I have a slightly different life compared to the beginning, I no longer work as a live-in carer and when my working day ends, I have the feeling of disconnecting and enjoying the small and large achievements made in recent years.

I suggested to many of my colleagues that they sign up to WeMi Tate Colf Caregivers which in these 8 years has established itself as a point of reference, a free service where I have always found availability and listening.
