The Churches of Milan you need to discover

Itinerary description

There are a significant number of churches in Milan that are lesser known on the national and international tourist circuit but, both for their historical and cultural importance and as works of art, which can easily rival some of the major sacred sites.

Hence this itinerary has been created with the aim of focusing the spotlight on these sites of worship which, very often, are real museums in themselves.

We commence with Bramante's jewel - Santa Maria presso San Satiro, then the baroque masterpiece - Sant’Alessandro in Zebedia, the palatine chapel of the Duke of Milan Azzone Visconti  - San Gottardo in Corte and a fine example of early seventeenth century Milanese architecture - S. Antonio Abate. The itinerary then continues with the macabre ossuary San Bernardino alle Ossa, the neo-Romanesque basilica of San Babila, the fifteenth-century San Pietro in Gessate and the church of S. Fedele, an expression of Counter Reformation religious architecture. Last but not least, the neoclassical Santa Maria della Consolazione and the original architectural complex of Santa Maria alla Fontana.
