An agreement to create the "Garden of Wonders" in via Bechi

Milan, 4 February 2023 - The Collaboration Pact was signed this morning between the Municipality of Milan, Municipio 2, the social cooperative "Tempo per l'infanzia", the spontaneous group of the historic Crespi Morbio Foundation, the ASD Sportinzona Melina Miele, the associations La Crisalide APS and DIESIS Aps for the revitalization, care and management of the green area of via Giulio Bechi. It is called “the Garden of Wonders. The green grows, we grow", the project aimed at creating a diversified space, intended for social cohesion, culture and recreational initiatives, which is part of the Smart Alliance initiative, born during the semester of presidency of the ELIS consortium led by NTT DATA, in collaboration with the Polytechnic of Milan. At the end of an initial extraordinary cleaning of the area in via Bechi 9, a well-kept green space will be set up, with furniture and games aimed at girls and boys aged between six and twelve years and a parterre created multifunctional sports intended for individual or team activities. But not only that, because the aim is also to dedicate part of the area to a shared vegetable garden and another to host functions for teenagers and the elderly.
The total surface area involved is 1.550 square meters and it is here that very different activities will converge, from educational ones and the promotion of culture and well-being to acculturation courses for hobbyists on vegetable gardens, gardening and beekeeping, capable of addressing a varied audience, made of children but also of their parents and grandparents.

With the signing of the Pact, valid until 31 December 2023, the parties involved undertake to enrich an area involving three districts of the city of Milan, Gorla, Precotto and Villa San Giovanni, with activities useful for promoting social cohesion, sports and healthier lifestyles.

And so an uncultivated green space is preparing to become a meeting place for adults and children, with a shared vegetable garden, thanks to the activism of active citizens coordinated by entities in the area that deal with the well-being of minors and with combating school dropout, to promote sport as a tool for social inclusion and also to activate autonomy paths to support people with disabilities.
From a shared perspective, the associations will organize the activities, encouraging participatory and aggregative use of the communities, while the "ELIS for higher professional training" consortium will donate games and furnishings to the project such as the swing, the swing, the snail, the caterpillar, the ping pong tables, the tree tower, the vegetable boxes and the table with chessboard.
