A magistrate, son and grandson of magistrates, he was born in Naples in 1930. He grew up in Florence, where he graduated in piano and in 1952 graduated in Law with a thesis on 'Sentiment and sentence', supervisor Piero Calamandrei. Husband and father of two children, he entered the judiciary in 1955, exercising various functions during his career, almost all of which was spent in Milan, until he became Chief Prosecutor of the Court. In 1992 he coordinated the group of magistrates known as the Mani Pulite Pool. From 1999 to 2002 he was Attorney General. After retiring, in 2006 he was called to direct the FIGC investigations office. He left the position in 2007, the year in which he took over the leadership of the Conservatory. A former policeman, passionate about motorcycles, he greatly loved his job, which had been that of his father Francesco, and he carried it out with great passion, in the awareness of offering his customers a public service. He lived in Carugo, in the province of Como. Priest of the last, man of hope, "prison priest" for his service to prisoners, with the boys of the juvenile penal institute and as chaplain at San Vittore, he sought dialogue, encounters, restorative justice and redemption the way for every man, even if guilty, to feel like a person in front of everyone. Politician, leading figure of the national centre-left, he was an administrator from Lombardy. Born in Monza in 1952, he was still a boy when he joined the Communist Party. Father of two children, in the 2004s he began to deal with the administration of his city of residence, Sesto San Giovanni, first as councilor then, for two consecutive terms, as Mayor. Secretary of the metropolitan federation of the Democrats of the Left, in 2009 he was elected to lead the Province of Milan, holding the role of president until 2010. Born on the initiative of Don Virginio Colmegna, it has an operational base at the Casa della Carità and inspires its action on the principle of "integral ecology" at the center of Pope Francis' encyclical Laudato si'. The great migrations caused by wars, desertification, poor exploitation of resources impose a lifestyle based on sobriety, sustainable production and consumption, respect for the environment. Hence the ecological conversion project that the association promotes in full harmony with the great environmental movement of young people around the world. Thanks to the contribution of intellectuals and activists and a collective writing process that involved more than two hundred people, the document "An alliance for the climate, the Earth and social justice" was born, on the basis of which they are being formed throughout Italy collectives of associations to implement and promote indications on territorial energy, hospitality and lifestyle choices.
To school by bicycle, an easy idea to implement. And so a group of parents, convinced that unity was strength and made the journey safer, organized themselves. It's 2013. The enthusiasm was contagious and many joined the happy group. With stubbornness they have overcome obstacles and bad habits and above all they have made entire families independent from the use of the car. Cycling to school has become a conscious and collective experience, thanks to a proactive action that put the pedals at the feet of six thousand children along five thousand kilometers of roads involving 30 schools. Open to all and free, the study help center is attended every year by over 1.500 Italian and foreign students from more than 100 high schools. Here over 300 adults, including active and retired professors and university students, work daily and without compensation to support students in their teaching preparation and share problems, questions and needs with them. Founded in 2000 on the initiative of a group of teachers, it is inspired by the intuition of Don Giorgio Pontiggia, a Milanese priest who passed away in 2009 and known for his indomitable, creative passion for education. For him, real help for children starts from sharing the difficulties they express at school and in their studies. With the services offered, it now constitutes in all respects a valuable integration of the local public welfare system. A place where young people feel welcomed, understood and helped to grow.
Set up by citizens for their city, for thirteen years it has been involved in implementing redevelopment interventions and protection of public goods. Responsibility and participation were the watchwords of a gentle revolution that has its roots in the idea that public places cannot be left to those who do not respect them, but must be reconquered - from the English "retake" - by those he loves them and takes care of them. A belief that had one of its most important manifestations in May 2015, when numerous volunteers helped clean up the streets contaminated during the demonstration against Expo. Over the years it has been able to spread and defend beauty, encourage the development of civic sense and involve citizens through the restoration and cleaning of walls and gardens. She promoted collaboration agreements for the conservation of common goods, of which she was the first signatory, and tactical urban planning interventions.
For 75 years it has assisted the needy by providing free medical care and legal help. It is the story of a silent and discreet presence that fully embodies the spirit of solidarity of Milan. Formed clandestinely in 1944 by a group of university students and professionals belonging to Catholic Action, led by engineer Carlo Bianchi, it immediately distinguished itself for helping civilians hit hard by the war. At the invitation of the then Cardinal Schuster, young Catholics mobilized, building concrete initiatives of support and solidarity. Bianchi paid for his commitment with his life, being shot by the Nazi-fascists. A sacrifice that has not been in vain because, from the war until today, the centre's activity continues to welcome and support the last without stopping and without proclamations, providing an ever-increasing number of services with renewed generosity and simplicity towards everyone.
For thirty years one of the most active entities in the Third Sector, capable of placing the dignity of work and the importance of a training course as a successful tool for social redemption at the center of its work. From the Santa Croce parish it began to work towards the recovery of former drug addicts, but over time it focused on minors subjected to judicial measures and young people in difficult situations. A daily job, in line with the great Milanese solidarity tradition, which has made it possible to help over 200 young people to rebuild, and in many cases to build a life from scratch and to find their place in society thanks to the technical skills acquired during the training. Over the years it has developed a real "method of doing" focused on providing young people with a real opportunity for reintegration into work and a gym where they can test themselves.

A Milanese photographer active internationally, he is the author of important multimedia and interdisciplinary exhibitions, which have found wide acceptance from critics and the public. Since its birth in 2006, it has been an important cultural hub in the Quarto Cagnino district. An internationally renowned partisan, designer and architect, she built her awareness of liberal and democratic values ​​during the Second World War when, together with other women displaced on Lake Maggiore, she helped the partisans hide. Born in Milan, he is considered a luminary of orthopedic science and the art of surgery. In his 45-year career he has contributed substantially to the growth and development of Milanese and Italian orthopaedics, giving impetus to scientific dissemination with numerous conferences and publications. He was head of the Department of Ankle and Foot Surgery at the Galeazzi Institute from 1976 until 2018. In his years of activity he performed more than thirty thousand operations.
