It has over 35 thousand members committed every day to enhancing and promoting the great cultural heritage of Italian wine, men and women who allow the simple consumer as well as the professional to know and appreciate the excellence of Italian food and wine.
Almost seventy years after its foundation, it represents the oldest association in the sector with the aim of protecting and perpetuating the popular tradition of traveling outdoor shows. Thanks to the commitment of its associates, it is the protagonist of the Ambrosiano carnival with the Luna Park Meneghino. An event that has become part of the city's tradition and awaited every year by thousands of Milanese children and families. It was an idea of ​​the teachers and students of the Giuseppe Verdi Conservatory of Milan that gave life to the association in 1976. In the belief that the passion for music is ageless and must always be cultivated, its activity promotes the push for musical education towards adults and beyond, using the institute's classrooms in the evening hours. A symbiosis between the theater and the city: this has always been the mission that the company has set itself to bring the word of theater ever closer to people. Twenty years of commitment which have allowed the company to win important prizes and recognitions. Many owe their lives to him. Medical oncologist and university professor, head of the Anti-Smoking Center of the Cancer Institute of Milan, he contributed personally to raising awareness and informing the citizens, not only Milanese, of the dangers of smoking and how to get out of an addiction that causes death every year of tens of thousands of people. Through academic publications and participation in television programs and editorial initiatives of a scientific nature, he has addressed an increasingly wider audience, becoming a point of reference and a widely followed voice. His chosen place, among many, where to spread the message "Smoking is bad" were the schools where he started an intense campaign.
University professor and doctor, from 2009 to 2015 he was President of the Irccs Ca' Granda Ospedale Maggiore Policlinico Foundation in Milan and had the merit of relaunching the oldest public health foundation as an institution serving citizens. He freed the Foundation's buildings, which had been occupied for 40 years, managing to finance the new emergency room of the Polyclinic with the sale. He turned his enormous rural assets into income, establishing a new foundation that would allocate his profits to research. He enhanced the cultural heritage of Ca 'Granda through the dissemination of the history of the building, the historical archive and the preserved assets. And bringing to light works of art that had been lying in the Foundation's warehouses for years.
Born in Milan in 1982, the association was founded by a group of secular-inspired volunteers to take care of Italian and foreign minors in difficulty. The chosen tool is that of community life, with a path of welcome, education and autonomy. In the last decade alone, over 300 children between the ages of 14 and 18 have been welcomed, taking a large part of them off the streets and making them independent people. There have been many institutional and territorial bodies with which the non-profit organization has collaborated: among these also the International Social Service and the Neuropsychiatry Unit for children and adolescents. Among its strong points is the versatile ability to respond to emerging needs, starting with those of immigration.
Since 1997 he has been reporting on Milanese politics on Telenova with care and attention, in a never shouty way, hosting political, trade union and civil society representatives and giving voice to minorities. Born as a public body, in the last 10 years it has promoted numerous civic initiatives. Among these, the Help Desk for citizens in 2007 with the aim of facilitating access to legal services and the choice of registered professionals: six thousand, so far, who have received assistance. In 2010, together with the Municipality, the Lawyers in the area project was created, providing legal guidance in the 9 Municipalities and in some Municipalities of the Metropolitan City. Very active in legality education, the Order positioned itself as a collector of the legal knowledge of international associations of lawyers and experts in food law, during Expo 2015, developing a Manifesto to recall the responsibility of contributing to social advancement, to rebalancing access to resources and promoting rights.
Born from the dream of three boys, Carlo, Nicola and Pietro, to fill a void in Milan and create a place to welcome, but above all feel good and bring together young people from all over the world. The hostel is today one of the points of reference for those arriving in Milan with a backpack on their shoulders. With the slogan 'This house is not a hotel', the structure summarizes the value of the activity carried out, which goes beyond welcoming guests at low prices and becomes a space open to the city: a meeting place, a point of interaction, a laboratory for debates and comparisons. Today the dream is an entrepreneurial reality that involves 11 partners and has consolidated its image well beyond the city limits.
Born in 1942 to a family of Jewish origin. Despite the serious paralysis that marked him from birth and throughout his life, with great determination he undertook a tiring course of studies and graduated in pharmacology in 1973, becoming Paolo Mantegazza's assistant. For 43 years he has held the reins of the Modiano pharmacy in Piazza Stuparich and is a point of reference for the neighborhood for medical care for the weakest, elderly and most indigent people. He joins the day established by the pharmacy association, distributes medicines free of charge and supplies medicines for a leper colony in Eritrea.
After graduating in psychology in November 1989 from the University of Padua, she dedicated herself as a full-time psychotherapist to supporting people in difficulty. She has worked with the elderly, children including those with disabilities, couples and in particular she follows the mother-child relationship. From 2004 to 2011 you collaborated with the Life Help Center of the Mangiagalli clinic in Milan, where you supported mothers in difficulty before and after giving birth. She helped found the Life Help Center at the San Carlo Hospital and in 2012, thanks to her experience, she was among the founders of the Life Help Center at the Vittore Buzzi Hospital.
Precious project to support the most vulnerable people who for fifteen years, thanks to the efforts of various voluntary organizations, have been helping in their daily lives those who, due to age or illness, cannot leave their home. The elderly and sick are helped in the most basic activities, such as shopping, and volunteers record the needs of personal items which are then delivered to the homes of the needy. By coming into direct contact with people, the project fills the void of loneliness, providing information on the network of services present in the area, accompanying those in need for medical visits or providing answers to domestic and healthcare needs.
Born in 1992, it is the longest running project in the history of Milanese prison volunteering. It brings together and coordinates bodies and associations with different identities and resources and acts in relation with the prison administration, promoting the active role of prisoners and group work. All its initiatives aim to contribute to the protection of the dignity of detained people. The associations in the network in the project and the individual volunteers meet monthly, while prisoners and operators work together every day. The project seeks new solutions "for an ecology of punishment". Just as in nature ecotones are the border and balance zones between different environments, here the maximum variety and richness of speciation develops.
Inspired by the centuries-old values ​​of sacrifice that have always guided the actions of every Carabiniere, the women and men of the stations spread across the Milan area have demonstrated commendable dedication to serving the community, contributing significantly to the safety of citizens. Through the prevention and repression of crimes, dialogue and active participation in the life of the neighborhoods, they represent a point of reference, a place of listening and welcome, a safeguard of legality and social reassurance to protect the Milanese and the weakest groups. Led by the Station Commander, they guarantee the common good and civil coexistence and are an important outpost for understanding social dynamics and their development.
A suburban theatre, born in the Seventies, which since its foundation has stood as a cultural point of reference for the Gorla district and for the experimental theater companies that arrive in Milan. A place that hosts many permanent activities, from film clubs to popular music courses to the assemblies of the first foreign communities in Milan. In 1975 Massimo De Vita took over its artistic direction: since then the Theater has offered the public more than forty shows in the courtyards of the railing houses, in the disused factories of Sesto San Giovanni and in the initial reception centers for immigrants. A great expert in art history and professor of museology, he has held several prestigious and highly responsible positions in the direction of important cultural institutions in the city, such as Palazzo Reale. He is one of the most authoritative Milanese art historians and was the first director of the Diocesan Museum which, under his direction, became an important city museum institution from both a scientific and educational point of view, open to all and with an enriched collection, which has become an important part of the city's artistic heritage.
For half of his life he was committed to encouraging dialogue between Israelis and Palestinians and promoting the most diverse aspects of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation, providing an essential contribution to the political world with a balanced vision of the Middle Eastern reality, thanks to the development of the concept of equidistance between the two peoples. Among his various positions, he worked for the European Parliament and founded the Italian Center for Peace in the Middle East in Milan. He has written analyzes and editorials for important newspapers and in 2000 he was awarded the Peace Prize of the Lombardy Region, on the proposal of the Israeli and Palestinian Ambassadors in Italy.
Paralympic and multi-sport athlete, who arrived in Italy from Albania with her brother and father to join her mother, she honored our country and her adopted city with important sporting results. Having lost her sight due to a degenerative disease, she did not stop, winning a sports dance championship, playing baseball with the Blind Sports Group of Milan, up to athletics. In this discipline she immediately achieved good results in speed and long jump. At the last Paralympics in Rio you represented Milan by running the 100 meters and setting a new Italian record in the long jump final in the blind category.
An internationally renowned resuscitator and anesthetist, he made medical science an instrument of excellence, giving prestige and visibility to Milan. Full professor at the University of Milan, from 1992 to 2015 he was scientific director of the Polyclinic, and subsequently university professor in Germany. He was the author of numerous publications, many of which concerning a new concept of lung rest that he introduced in the 80s and which later proved to be fundamental in the development of new therapies and medical analyses. He has received numerous international awards: the Honorary Doctorate from the University of Marburg in Germany and the Lifetime Achievement Award from the American Society of Anesthesiology.

Together they have been fighting for years for the recognition of the rights of homosexual people fleeing persecution. On 1 October 2016, a few weeks after the approval of the Cirinnà Law, they were finally able to see their common life project recognized by sharing their most beautiful day with a multi-ethnic and cosmopolitan celebration, to remember the value of hospitality and the need to give fullness to the rights of all.
Composer, performer, record producer, he is one of the great protagonists of Italian singer-songwriter music. He made his debut at a very young age, with the student group The Trappers, and in '68 came the meeting that changed his life with Mogol and Battisti. The two masters introduced him to his career as a composer with the song Il primo giorno di primavera, brought to success by Dik Dik, and involved him in the foundation of the legendary record label Numero Uno. Bertè, Mannoia, Oxa, Dalla, Morandi, Vanoni are just some of the great performers for whom he writes and produces songs, marking the history of Italian music in over 40 years of career.
Born in Milan, she has always been at the forefront of social commitment and co-founder of the San Patrignano Foundation. The largest recovery community for drug addicts in Europe has welcomed over 27 thousand young people and today hosts 1.300 of them, offering a path back into society and work. Researcher and scientific communicator engaged in the pharmaceutical sector, she has been president of Federfarma Lombardia since 2006 and of Federfarma Nazionale since 2008, culminating a career that began in 1975 with a degree in pharmacy. She worked as a researcher at the University of Milan, publishing texts on the role of sterols in cerebrospinal fluid during chemotherapy for the treatment of brain tumors. Very active in the profession that she embraces with passion, architect and teacher at the Polytechnic of Milan, in 1998 she was awarded an honorary degree at Seoul University in Social Economic Sciences. Grand Cross of Merit for Architecture in 1986, Knight of the Order of Malta in 1988 and Knight of Peace in 2009.
