STRATEGIES FOR NEW SCENARIOS
With the Resolution of the Municipal Council n. 496 of 13.04.2023 - Drafting of the new Plan Document and the variants of the Service Plan and the Rules Plan - the Municipality of Milan has started the procedure for a general variant to the PGT - Territorial Governance Plan, in line with the new legislative provisions introduced and capable of giving greater impetus to the programmatic lines that drive administrative action, and which must necessarily take into account the climate and environmental crisis and the two main variables that have occurred from 2020 to today: the Covid-19 pandemic and the conflict in Ukraine, with their consequent impacts especially in the socio-economic sphere, from the need for local services to the impact on energy and real estate prices.
Promote better environmental and urban quality, facilitate the supply of rental housing at affordable prices, strengthen services with a view to proximity, push more decisively on the valorisation of public space and on redevelopment and regeneration interventions of the existing ones, instead of those being built from scratch, they are among the main pre-established directions, which in the coming months will have to be detailed, discussed and elaborated by the Administration to finally be subjected to scrutiny and approval by the City Council.
Themes subject to changes are also the fight against climate change and environmental quality, with the introduction of rules aligning with the Air Climate Plan, approved in February 2022, the valorisation of public assets, the regeneration of mobility infrastructures, which will be given greater push, and the morphological norms that will be corrected and specified in relation to the urban transformations in progress or in the project: at the center is the quality of the interventions and the definition of strategies - which also involve the involvement and empowerment of citizens - for the enhancement of public space as a place of sociality and well-being.
In the coming months, the Municipality will therefore work on the changes to be made, and then submit them for approval in the council chamber.
