Welfare. Fight against irregular work and exploitation, 150 thousand euros for the activation of a dedicated desk

Milan, May 19 2024 - With the aim of strengthening services to combat irregular work and encourage its emergence, the Municipality of Milan will activate a desk that will act as a single access point to promote the socio-work integration of victims of exploitation, also thanks to a network of committed and attentive subjects for early detection of the phenomenon and reports.

Thanks to a 150 thousand euro loan from the European funds of the POC Inclusion, the Administration will be able to start a 14-month experiment which will focus on the construction and service production sectors, for example the catering, hotel and logistics sectors. The target identified by the project concerns citizens and foreign citizens regularly or irregularly present in the territory of the Municipality of Milan, but also young people and women, more often victims of labor exploitation.

The intention is to encourage the development of this line of activity within the work of building the city system for the reception and inclusion of migrant people, encouraging synergies with projects already active in the context of combating trafficking of human beings - Derive&Approdi - and with the municipal offices already operational in the context of combating the condition of serious marginalisation, for example the Sammartini Centre, Casa Jannacci and the CeLav - Work Mediation Centre. The governance model envisages, in fact, the creation of a coordination table with periodic meetings for discussion and exchange of information between all the subjects and services involved, so that the interventions are directed in a single way.

The interventions to be developed will concern, for example, information and awareness-raising activities through the preparation of multilingual brochures, first contact activities, engagement, taking charge and directing towards the most appropriate services, legal and psychological consultancy, literacy courses.

In the coming weeks, in collaboration with the Third Sector partner bodies, we will proceed with the detailed planning of the interventions, and then promptly start the planned actions.
