Neighborhoods. Villani-Giuffrè celebrating, concert and presentation of the social laboratory for tenants

Four Pianocity events will be held in public housing, from today to Sunday

Milan, May 17 2019 - The activity of the Villani-Giuffrè Laboratory has begun, created for the social management of the municipally-owned public housing district close to Piazzale Maciachini, in the Niguarda area. In the coming months, the complex will undergo a massive redevelopment and extraordinary maintenance intervention and the Laboratory is designed precisely to organize activities for the benefit of residents and become a point of reference, information and practical support for them, even during the works period. A sort of help desk, therefore, with functions of listening to the needs and situations of greatest fragility, which will remain open until December of next year.

The laboratory will make use of the spaces made available in via Giuffrè 8, and above all of the work of a 'mixed' team composed not only of Municipality and MM staff, but also of Afol employees and of the Third Sector associations Diapason and Fondazione Aquilone, partner of the Administration in the project. The team will organize meetings, promote the care of the common areas of the block and the sharing of good rules of coexistence, and raise tenants' awareness of environmental issues, from reducing energy consumption to correct separate waste collection.

To present the activities to the tenants, a public meeting has been organized tomorrow morning, Saturday 18 May at 12, in which representatives of the Administration and MM, manager of public housing on behalf of the Municipality, will participate. The appointment is part of a morning of celebration for the neighborhood, which will begin as early as 9 am and continue with a concert included in the Pianocity program: at 30 am the pianist, composer and arranger Nicola Virgili will play classical and neoclassical music.

This will be just one of the four concerts planned this weekend by Pianocity within the public housing districts, organized in collaboration with MM: the first will be held this evening at 18 pm in via del Turchino 20/22, where the pianist Simone Sassu he will play songs by Bossanova and contemporary music; tomorrow, in addition to the concert in the Villani-Giuffrè district, there will also be one in piazzale Dateo 5, where at 18 pm the pianist Dario Lutrino will perform a tribute to Pino Daniele; finally, it closes on Sunday 19 May at 11am in via Feltrinelli 16 with the pianists Duo le Muse who will perform in a program of musical games designed for children.

The works planned in the complex in via Villani-Giuffrè (two buildings of 8 floors each for a total of 438 accommodations) will make it possible to improve not only the state of conservation, but also the safety conditions. The facades, floors and false ceilings will be redone, the windows and doors will be replaced, the systems will be revised (also based on the updating of the CPI, the Fire Prevention Certificate) and, in the common areas, a new room will be created for the separate collection of waste and upgraded the lighting system. The total estimated amount for the redevelopment project, whose construction site will start within the year, is 13,4 million euros.
