Mobility. New tender for sharing station based car rental for concessions until 2026

Mobility. New tender for sharing station based car rental for concessions until 2026

Milan, May 19 2024 – The Council has approved the guidelines of the new public notice which will be published in the next few weeks and which, in line with the previous one, will allow the collection of expressions of interest for the implementation of the station based (fixed stall) sharing service in Milan and in the metropolitan city until 31 December 2026.

The 'station based' system is based on the presence of stations where the rental is started and concluded thanks to the positioning of the cars in predefined stalls. For this reason, the Municipality's announcement envisages making special stalls on public land available to interested operators, which will be assigned under a onerous concession following a public tender procedure.
The fleet intended for the station based car sharing system must be made up of plug-in or range-extended electric cars, quadricycles or vehicles for transporting things (N1). The car sharing service must be ensured continuously every day of the year, 24 hours a day with a minimum fleet of 24 vehicles, with 100 spaces available distributed in various locations.

Cars will be able to access Area C for free and park in both the blue and yellow lines, without prejudice to the rental start and end methods connected to the station based system. The operator will have to join the Maas (Mobility as a Service) platforms in progress or that may be developed by the Municipality of Milan or by accredited entities.
